Notebook panels have slightly decreased in
price during September 2012 due to over anticipation for the release of Windows
8 and various ultrabook models, according to industry sources.
The sources said panel sales for notebook
products that will use Windows 8 are not as high as predicted and that notebook
makers are holding conservative views for the soon-to-be released software from
Microsoft.
Additionally, ultrabook sales have been
lower than expected and are not expected to increase until the end of 2012. Over
anticipation for both Windows 8 and ultrabooks have caused notebook panel prices
to drop in September and the prices are not expected to rebound until the end of
the year, added the sources.
Notebook panels sized 13.3-inch have
dropped about US$0.50 while 14- and 15.6-inch ones have dropped about US$1,
according to DisplaySearch.
