With more and more companies outsourcing data center operations to
cloud computing service providers, Taiwan-based hardware ODMs have been seeking
cooperation with cloud computing business software developers for
hardware/software integration to offer turnkey solutions, according to industry
sources in Taiwan.
An increasing number of enterprises have stopped running their own
servers and storage equipment and rented storage capacity from cloud computing
service providers to save maintenance cost, the sources pointed out. As a
result, demand for cloud computing services will be growing fast, with
Hewlett-Packard (HP), Dell and IBM to possibly provide such rental services in
the future, the sources indicated.
Taiwan-based Quanta Computer, in an attempt to tap the market for
hardware/software integration, has begun cooperating with SAP by having hardware
equipment tested by SAP, the sources pointed out. However, Quanta declined to
comment on the sources' claims.
Quanta chairman Barry Lam has recently remarked that the company
will cooperate with software development companies to offer total cloud
computing solutions.
