Foxconn subsidiary enters Southeast Asia countries with Sharp smartphones

Commtiva Technology, a subsidiary of Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) that handles the parent company's business and product cooperation with Sharp, recently hosted a launch in Thailand for Sharp's smartphones and also formed a partnership with local distributor SiS for product distribution in the country.

While already delivering Sharp's smartphones in Taiwan, China, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines, Commtiva also plans to enter other markets in Southeast Asia through different cooperation projects in 2013, said the company.

Sales of smartphones in Thailand are expected to reach 10 million units a year by 2014, doubling from the record set in 2011, Commitiva estimated.

SiS currently operates a retail channel with more than 300 outlets around Thailand and can also distribute products to other Southeast Asia countries through its subsidiaries.
