Chunghwa Telecom aims to hike non-voice revenue proportion to over 50% in 2 years, says chairman


Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) has been increasingly strengthening its Internet-access and value-added services operations, with a goal of increasing the proportion of consolidated revenues for all types of non-voice communication services to more than 50% in two years, according to company chairman Lu Shyue-ching.

CHT's ICT businesses brought in revenues of about NT$10 billion (US$339 million) in 2012 and the company expects annual revenues to increase to NT$15 billion in three years.
CHT has set goals for 2013, including 1.5 million subscribers of fixed-line Internet services at 50Mbps or above download speeds, 1.4 million MOD (multimedia on demand) subscribers, 3.5 million mobile Internet-access subscribers, one million subscribers of Hami+ personal cloud computing services, expansion 1Gbps fixed-line Internet access from selected metropolitan areas to more areas around Taiwan, and expansion of its Wi-Fi network to 45,000 hot spots around Taiwan.
