Inventec to have 90% notebook orders made in Chongqing, China in 2014

Inventec will accelerate its pace over shifting notebook production capacity to plants in Chongqing, China in the second half of 2013 with more than 90% of the company's total orders expected to be manufactured in the city in 2014 and the percentage will rise to 100% in 2015, according to company chairman Richard Lee.

Lee pointed out that the company's production capacity in Chongqing plants has already been fully booked in 2013 and the company will accelerate its capacity expansion plan in the second half to satisfy unfulfilled orders.

As for Inventec's plants in Shanghai, China, the company will change the production lines to manufacture server, all-in-one PC and consumer electronics products. In the future, Inventec will have three bases in China with one in Chongqing to produce notebook, one in Shanghai to produce server and one in Nanjing to produce handheld devices.

In 2012, Inventec shipped totally 20 million PC products including notebooks, all-in-one PCs, tablets and thin clients. Although Inventec still has not yet come out with a shipment forecast for 2013, the company expects to see a difficult quarter in the first quarter of 2013, Lee noted.

However, after the second quarter of 2013, with helps from new orders and clients, Lee is optimistic about the company's performance in 2013.

As for tablet products, Lee pointed out that Inventec is currently integrating its business groups and is set to release some innovative products with a complete platform in the second half of 2013.
