Wintek starts trial production on thin-film type touch screen lamination line

Wintek has reportedly begun trial production on a thin-film type touch screen lamination line that is expected to go into mass production in the second half of 2013, according to industry sources.

The line will reportedly be used to produce thin-film type touch screen products for Apple's next generation 9.7-inch iPad, which is expected to be released during the time period, said the sources.
The sources also added some of the products are likely to be used in new notebooks, including a 12.85-inch model from Google and an 11.6-inch one from Asustek Computer.

The computer vendors' products are also expected to be released during the second half of 2013, which means that Wintek's revenues are not expected to start climbing until second-quarter 2013, the sources noted.
Wintek's one-glass-solution (OGS) touch screen shipments are expected to see limited growth in the first quarter of 2013, but are expected to grow the following quarter, said the sources.
