IC distributor Topco looks to post 5-10% sequential sales gains in 2Q13

IC equipment and materials distributor Topco Scientific is expected to see its revenues grow 5-10% sequentially in the second quarter of 2013 after sales gained 1.2% on quarter and 8.7% on year to NT$3.96 billion (US$132.32 million) in the first quarter, according to industry sources.
Topco's first-quarter performance was better than expected, buoyed by demand for equipment and materials for advanced processing technologies at wafer foundry houses, the sources noted.
Topco is also expected to see its gross margin rebound to over 12% in the first quarter thanks to the impact of depreciation of the Japanese yen and growing shipments of photoresists, indicated the sources.
Factors including a high capacity utilization of advanced processing at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and a rebound of the DRAM industry will enable Topco to maintain its growth momentum in April as well as in the second quarter, commented the sources.
