Computex 2013 expected to create US$25 billion in business opportunities

Computex Taipei 2013, which will run from June 4-8, is expected to attract 40,000 international buyers and create business opportunities worth US$25 billion. The show will have about 1,700 exhibitors occupying 5,000 booths. Firms such as Intel, Microsoft, Acer, Asustek computer, Corning, Nvidia, Marvell, Compal Electronics, Delta Electronics and Bayer are expected to exhibit their latest technologies at the show.

In addition to Intel's new Haswell platform and third-generation ultrabooks, tablets are expected to be the highlights of the show.

Asustek will also showcase its latest tablet devices and new Haswell-based ultrabook/tablet convertibles as well as the second-generation Nexus 7 at the show.

But some PC vendors are concenred that Google's I/O 2013 conference (May 15-17), Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC, June 10-14) and Microsoft's BUILD (June 26-28) may divert attention away from Computex.

As the market's focus has already turned from the downstream hardware development to the upstream software design, the PC vendors believe the major IT shows such as Computex, CES and MWC may gradually lose their appeal, as vendors will only showcase their latest products at their own conferences.
