Germany-based Siemens AG is establishing a Machine Tool Controller Technology Application Center and will establish a Cardiovascular Reference Center in Taiwan, according to president Erdal Elver for Siemens Limited Taiwan.

The Machine Tool Controller Technology Application Center, to be completed at the end of 2012 and come into operation in January 2013, will provide customized services for Taiwan-based machine tool makers and enterprise users to help Taiwan's machine tool manufacturing industry upgrade technology and develop toward one of the three largest machine tool exporting countries in the world, Elver indicated.

As Taiwan's manufacturing industries are actively boosting production automation, there are business opportunities for Taiwan-based machine tool makers, Elver noted. Among manufacturing industries in Taiwan, automobile, food processing and semiconductors have relatively high levels of automated production, Elver said.

The Cardiovascular Reference Center, to be set up through cooperation with hospitals in Taiwan, will be a demonstrative cardiovascular medical center for academic research and clinical diagnosis, Elver pointed out.
