Commenting on Microsoft's loan to Dell for the company's privatization,
Acer chairman JT Wang pointed out that the action showed the software giant has
already turned its focus back to downstream partners, which should have a
positive effect on the relationships between Microsoft and downstream brand
vendors.
Wang
pointed out that Microsoft originally thought that it would be able to run a
product brand, but after achieving unsatisfactory sales, the software giant has
decided to turn back to its old strategy of cooperating with brand vendors and
has recently started changing its plans.
Although Acer did not participate Microsoft's Integrated Development
Project (IDP) for Windows 8, the company still enjoys strong Windows 8 PC sales,
which Wang believes to have played some part in pushing Microsoft to change its
strategy.
