Taiwan-based EMS provider Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry), in response to Samsung Electronics' investment of JPY10 billion (US$107 million) to acquire a stake of about 3% in Sharp, has indicated that the Japan vendor had notified it of the investment before making the announcement. Foxconn said it appreciates Sharp's respect for the relation between the two companies.
As Sharp is an independent company, Foxconn said it has no right to comment on Samsung's investment. The cooperation between Foxconn and Sharp in SIO/SDP display panel business has been going smoothly with significant fruition, and Foxconn will continue negotiation with Sharp about further cooperation, Foxconn said.
